This summer has been really awesome when it comes to what my personal relationship with God looks like. He has been so sweet to bless me throughout the summer as well as teach me more about Him and what the Christian walk looks like. I planned on writing about all the amazing things that God taught me during the first half, but the second half has been really good for me to be able to be used by God. It is so amazing to me that God chose to include me in His plan and gives me the ability, through Jesus who lives inside of me, to make an impact in the lives of young people and to tell them about the relationship that I have with God. I don’t deserve anything that God has blessed me with this summer. He has been so sweet and gracious. Going into student camp 4, I didn’t know what to expect. I’m 16 and have been coming to camp as a camper since I was 7 years old. Student camp 4 is the camp that my youth group was a part of. I thought that I might miss out on some of the awesome things that I had experienced as a camper, but God had a plan for me being on staff this year for this particular camp. Also, this is the first year that Tribe Leaders were able to stay over through the student camps. God is so amazing! He just keeps reaffirming that He was in total control and He had a plan and purpose for me this summer. God’s sovereignty blows my mind. At staff meeting before the camp started, I was told that I was going to be able to be a ministry partner for cabin 17. This is something that I had never done before. I knew that God was going to do something through me and I thought that it would be amazing if I happened to have some of my friends from the youth group in my cabin. I ended up having two people from my youth group and they were both my age. I also had friends in my cabin from the last couple of years because we had been campers together. I was nervous at the beginning of the week because the kids in my cabin were all my age or older, and the enemy planted a lot of lies in my brain that made me feel like I didn’t belong on staff, but we have been talking about recognizing the enemies voice as well as God’s voice in Tribe Leaders Bible study. I knew that this was a lie and that God was going to use me in some way. I just gave these lies up to God and trusted that He would work through me. He gave me an amazing opportunity to have a one-on-one with one of my friends. I have known this friend from school since I was three years old. We go to a Christian school and we see each other almost every day, but we had never had such a powerful conversation about God. We stayed up until 2:00am talking and it was amazing. It was so refreshing for me and it was also encouraging that I would be going home at the end of the summer to someone that would help me make an impact in those around us on a daily basis. I had a second one-on-one with my friend from camp throughout the years. God has really used him in my life as someone to help me grow in my faith. It was really good to have conversations with good friends about powerful topics and to let God use me in their lives. God has given me an amazing peace about how I did during LFR after Dark. I was having a lot of thoughts that were not encouraging and the enemy tried to tell me that I wasn’t doing a good job, but I really just focused on letting the Spirit work through me and I believe that I was able to accomplish my goal and purpose of planting seeds in my friends’ hearts and allowing God to work. I was able to do what I love to do and just talk about the gospel and what God has been teaching me. I don’t need to worry about anything else. I can rest in Christ’s finished work on the cross. Not only has my relationship with the Creator of the universe been positively impacted this summer, but also my relationships with my parents, church body, classmates, friends, etc. God was so good and so gracious in giving me this opportunity to work at camp this summer. What an amazing gift to be able to walk in the Spirit and be a part of such an amazing team.
