tribe leader

This is my first summer on staff at Lake Forest, and I didn’t expect to be a Tribe Leader. I don’t even remember applying for it, but Tribe Leader is what I got. At first I didn’t know what to do, and was really confused as to what Tribe Leaders are supposed to do. All day I watched kids and spent time with them during activities, but honestly at first, I just felt like a nanny. It was fun-ish but I didn’t really know what I was supposed to be doing. Then one night I just took over Bible devotion time, at night, out of the Counselor’s hands to give him a break. I just fell right into place wherever I was needed, whether it was help, support, or just giving others a break. I felt like I was able to be that. Then the night of invitation came, and I walked out, to see Matthew really shaken up and nervous. I walked right up to him and just started praying for his mind and conscience to be clear as he spoke to the little ones, affirming to me, “This is what being a Tribe Leader means.”
