During Student Camp 1, I had a camper in my cabin who had suffered from brain tumors and seizures since she was five years old. She had just recently had brain surgery, which she was super worried and upset about. She had shared with me how she struggled with hating God because of all of the struggles He had given her in her life. I explained to her that God loved her more than she could even understand, and the reason for the struggles we go through in life is because we live in a sinful and fallen world, but I really didn’t think she understood that. However, during the one-on-one time at the end of “LFR after Dark”, where we share with the campers the gospel and who they truly are in Christ, she came to me uncontrollably sobbing. She had felt the Lord speak to her during this time and convict her of sin. She told me that she knew she was a sinner and that she needed to be saved. I had the awesome opportunity to lead her to Christ that night. It is truly an honor that God allowed me to be a part of this! He didn’t need me, but let me be a part in order to bless me. It was so special to get to see God move in the heart of a girl who started off the week hating Him and ended the week His daughter. I know it was truly the Holy Spirit moving in her, and God whispering in her ear, “Hey, I do love you!” because absolutely nothing we could have done or said would have changed her mind about the Lord. I am so thankful that God opened the door for me to be a counselor this summer, where I could see Him moving in people’s hearts and lives every day!
